Costs and charges All charges are listed in Charges (Fees). The following information will explain some of these charges. The first instalment of the visa application charge is paid at the time of application. If members of the family unit are included in the application only one application charge is payable for the entire family unit. If an applicant for a Business Skills visa is 18 years or over and is assessed as not having functional English, a second instalment of the visa application charge will be payable. This covers the cost of English language tuition in Australia to achieve functional English. The full amount must be paid before a visa can be granted.
Medical costs Required to pay for a medical examination for each family member included in the application. For entry into Australia, medical examinations conducted overseas are generally only acceptable if conducted by panel doctors and radiologists accepted by the Australian Government.
Other costs Other costs include obtain a character clearance from authorities in home country, and the cost of certified translations of documents.
Lodging an application To lodge a Business Skills migration application, obtain Booklet 7, Business Skills Entry. It has detailed information about what is required to come to Australia as a business migrant, where to lodge your application, and information about living in Australia. All applications for a Business Skills (Provisional) visa and a Business Talent (Migrant) visa are lodged and processed in one of three Business Skills centres in Hong Kong, Taipei and Perth:
- Applicants living in the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong and Macau) apply to the Australian Consulate General in Hong Kong;
- Applicants living in Taiwan apply to Australian Commerce and Industry Office (ACIO) in Taipei;
- Applicants living anywhere else apply to Perth Business Skills Processing Centre.
An application will only be valid if it is lodged in one of these centres. Applications sent elsewhere will be returned to the applicant.
All applications for a Business Skills (Residence) visa and the Established Business in Australia or Regional Established Business in Australia categories are lodged and processed in a departmental business centre in Australia.
